The table mountain called Děčínský Sněžník, which is a part of the Elbe Valley, is located near the city of Děčín. It is a widely visited and important Czech climbing destination.
Sněžník is mainly known as a bouldering area. The first lines were established here more than 25 years ago. Today you may choose the right boulder project from more than 1,800 lines and almost 400 of them are in the lowest difficulty grades up to French 5C+ (according to the 2020 data).
Whether you're a beginner or an advanced climber, the Sněžník climbing playground will last you for a long time.
If you are not a fan of "close-to-ground climbing", Sněžník also has something to offer you. You'll find over 700 traditional rock climbing routes up to 9 UIAA (French 7c) difficulties. Next time, don't hesitate and bring a climbing rope instead of a crash pad and you'll have a lot of fun!
The rock formations of Děčínský Sněžník are made of siliceous sandstone, so do not expect any fragile sand or trampled footprints from other climbers. The local sandstone is one of the hardest in the Czech Republic, but be gentle and keep in mind following the rules of climbing on Czech sandstones.
"JARDA" MADE HIS FIRST CRASH PAD BY WRAPPING FOAM IN THE BUBBLE FOIL AND WITH THIS STARTED TO BOULDER ON SNĚŽNÍK.
In the short movie from Lukáš Černý, you will learn much more about bouldering in Děčínský Sněžník from the most knowledgeable people - Ondra Beneš and Jarda Ježek. Daniel Hölzl, who is the regional supervisor, will tell you how was climbing developed here.
